How long have you been collecting...and what is a highlight and a lowlight you have experienced?

I am new here, but I have learned quit a bit in a short time from all the experience here. Just curious.

Would not change much that has happened along the way (except 3 different coins I passed on, and many that I sold). Nevertheless, all's well that ends well! :)

Just over 2 years. The lowlight for me was learning about the ugly side of the business. When you find out not everyone who collects is going to be honest about what they are selling, and what they have done to make a buck. The cleaning of coins to fool someone into buying a coin to me is just evil. I am not talking about preserving or getting off an organic deposits off but the Dip or Whiz or whatever other technique is used. My favorite part of becoming a collector of coins is the great people you meet and the educational part. The history you learn behind every coin you come across.

    50 years.

Highlight: sorting and examining Dads tissue box full of change circa 1970. Our kitchen light was about 300W.

Lowlight: sitting in my Silverado looking through change. The dome light is 7W.

Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.

I have been collecting since the last 7 years now. The highpoints has definitely been when you accidentally find a coin that you have always desired. The most frustrating aspect of this hobby has been waiting for years to complete a particular set of coins.
