Hi guys just looking through my coins and whilst looking at this one noticed it has 2 dots after the word GRATIA. I am not a collector of 8 Reales and was wondering, is this a known variety?

Nice crude Zacatecas War of Independence issue. There are lots of varieties for this year. Calbeto alone documented 6. The double dot is not one of them, but i believe the dot is due to the engraver correcting it's original location on the die and the repair starting to show-up in later die states.

The reverse looks to be Calbeto #1777 characterized by a missing arch on the crown. I think it's a new obverse die, but the closest is the one listed under Calbeto #1775.
