I have had two pieces of registered "misplaced", but they eventually showed up. (I blame it more on the mail critter than the system itself.)
Sometimes I think I could bicycle to/from the destination faster than the postal service could move my package, but the last time a coin from ATS was sent to me registered, it took 5 days. Record time. Less time than smartpost from the mint.
I'd wait. Your package just may have been hidden behind/under ones that were destined for Houston. It may be secure, but it's still being processed by one of the wonderful and diligent postal employees...
One thing I've learned is what you see online for tracking is not what the Post Office knows. I call it their 'super secret tracking system' and whenever I've had questions my local (nice, friendly, and helpful!!!) folks have helped me out.
A few years back I was doing registered from an FPO AP to an FPO AE--sending a few things that were too precious to trust to the movers and were too much to carry ourselves. A box with photos/an old teddy bear/a few coins went about 12 miles then stopped for 3+ MONTHS. The local post office was being run by the young active duty kiddos who were completely clueless as to what needed doing to track it. I finally sent an email to the right person and the package was found and delivered.
On more typical addresses the longest was about 3 weeks. It was never lost, just not moving for a bit. On the flip side I've had several take only a few days going cross country.
Thanks very much for all of the replies. They are most appreciated.
Finally, on day 12 from NY, it was delivered yesterday.
As a member noted above, the key is to file a case w the USPS. Once I did that things started to move again.
Thanks again!
