Is Manny Machado a "DIRTY" player?? I feel that he is. There is a difference between playing hard and playing dirty.

The best example for me of playing hard is when Pete Rose took out Cleveland's Ray Fosse with a collision at home plate during an All-Star game. He effectively ended an up-and-coming player on the verge of a superlative career with what was probably an over the top play, but that's how PR played and probably how more should play.

Machado is a different story. His BS last year of losing his grip on the bat and almost hitting a player should have been dealt with more seriously. Now, for the second time this season, he has injured a Red Sox player with a slide into second base. The irony is that he is a very talented player who seems like a head case. While I don't advocate the obvious retaliation, I understand the feeling.

I certainly hope MLB takes a look at him and his play, then deals with it appropriately.

That slide last night wasn't dirty at all. He slid right into the base (barely over if you want to nitpick). He got injured because of a bad throw from the catcher that pulled him off the base into the baserunner, and he fell over reaching for the ball. That's where he injured himself, reaching down with his hand to brace for a fall and he hurt his wrist.

I don't think Pedroia had a problem with it the first time , David Price did burst into tears , but he is easily triggered.

Yesterday's example would be a poor example of Machado being a dirty player. The catchers throw got Nunez injured. My guess is that is why no reporters are asking that question. It wouldn't occur to anybody
