This is a strong 1866 3Cent piece CLASHED DIE, Is the other a proof? Different lower reverse ribbon

    The 3c nickels have some of the best clashes of any U.S. coin. That's a nice one you have.

    Clashed die nickel three cent pieces are relatively common. They are not something you want to pay much. if any, premium to obtain. That particular coin has clashing but also seems to have corroded surfaces.

    The coin with the corroded surfaces is the second coin you picture. The change in appearance was probably the result of die polishing. Neither coin was ever a proof.

    Clash and at least three nice reverse die cracks on the first one.

    The second one looks like a shallow strike that did not yield all the ribbon details.
