Any advice for cracking cards out of BVG holders?

I bought a few mid-grade 1952 Topps cards with the intention of cracking them out but I gotta say, those slabs seem really solid!

Any advice for someone without power tools? For PSA slabs, I just smack the top with a hammer and pry with a thin screwdriver.

Dpeck has a great video showing how to do this. It works well. Search for it on you tube....like crack out bgs holder

I put the slab facedown on a hard surface then take a chisel to the outer edge all the way around and just tap lightly with a hammer. Chips will fly everywhere but if you want to put the holder in a graded card sleeve it should hold everything in it.

on it ... look for it ...i use this huge bolt cutters

I just tap the chisel lightly all the way around till it loosens up then put a flathead inside on the label end and pry open slowly.

Man time flies. This was over five years ago. My twin brother was showing me his cool new phone at the time and how it could take great videos. I said hang on and went and grabbed a card and said lets make a quick video of me cracking one out so I can show how it easy it is. I uploaded it to Youtube so I could post it here and show the doubters it was as easy as I was saying.

It does make me happy that so many collectors have viewed it and used the technique.
