Which of these boxes have a better appreciation?

I saw that BBCE has a 1977 topps football wax box for 3200.00 and a 1975 topps mini baseball wax box for 3k. I know there are many mini boxes out there and the value per card graded out distance the 77 Football box. I just do not see many full 77 boxes out there. Which has the better appreciation in the future as a full box? Thanks

if i had to guess, i'd say the mini box b/c its a "classic". They've been pretty stagnant since the run up of a couple of years ago, but i think the football is already priced right at the height of what it can push.
I think the 77 because there are more 75 minis out there. 1976 and 1977 Topps baseball are tough to find IMO.
The rookie class in 1977 FB isn't that great. I think Largent is the only major RC. The second year Payton, Steelers, and Cowboys always have interest but the lack of RCs, especially at QB, limit how much higher the 1977 box can rise.
I would buy 2004 Topps Chrome FB Boxes instead. They have more upside than either.
I always wonder about this stuff.
I do think the number of RCs in a particular year is very important coupled with the "perceived" print run.
At 3K for mini? Me? Not a big fan.
75 minis...then again, I may be a bit biased..

whoops, sorry Tim.
Would you buy now @ 3K?
Now, if it were a 75OPC for 3? I believe Yes.
The question is which box has the most upside, correct? Both are great boxes but the 1977 Topps is rarer than the 1975 Topps mini. Yes, the value CAN be greater if you hit a centered pack, but from my experience the 1975 Topps minis have been pretty bad for centering. Both boxes are a great investment and you can't go wrong.
I'm gonna say the minis, only because there is a larger market for this product. Guys like me go crazy over the 75 minis. I cringed over paying $2K some 6-7 years ago, and now we are at $3K. I am out of the unopened 75 mini market now, but my interest is always perked by these conversations.
To be honest, no direction, but...

I would prefer the minis, too. Even though many cards are OC out of the pack, that is not always the case. The mystery of "what if" is part of what drives the value, imo, and if you land a centered box, there is no other issue from the 1970s that provides a greater return than 75 minis. When that is the case, you have better odds of coming out ahead ripping the packs vs keeping them sealed. No other issue comes close to offering that kind of upside. Of course, those boxes are tough to find, but the minis have not only held their value over the past few years, but unlike similar issues for which quantity was available, risen in value over the past 6-12 months. I also agree that the 75 mini issue has greater collector appeal vs 77 football, though I also agree that either box is a nice one to own.

I would, Mike, if it were a box FASC and I had the funds to spend, though I'd try to get the price down around $2,800.
75 OPC boxes contain 48 packs (vs 36 for Topps mini) so the per pack cost comparison is a bit skewed, but 3K for a 75 OPC box would be a bargain due to their scarcity.
Collector pool for 70s OPC is much thinner than Topps, though.

Minis for shear demand sake. Not just demand of the unopened packs, but any high grade cards, if ripped-- stars or commons . I also think you have a better shot at getting a higher value pack if you get lucky with a HOFer showing. I also assume a PSA 10 pack of minis would bring more than the 77.
Since I'm not selling or anything - the thinner pool is not a factor.
But, not sure of the price point - Steve had a 76OPC for 5K - so I'm gonna guess - even if he got a case - 3K aint gonna be the asking price?
Nowhere near 3K, Mike...I would say about 8K, maybe more for a factory fresh 48-ct 75 OPC box.

not sure if this data matters but if you go back to 2006,
bbce had a 1977 fb wax box for $900 and a 1975 mini box for $1450.
the mini box has doubled since then and the fb box has almost quadrupled.
i would say based upon this, the mini has more upside potential since the football is already boosted.
I would assess the condition of each box as any buyer would when you resell. If you have a brick of a 77, that would demand high dollars compared to a 75 mini box which has more on the market. With that being said, I would buy the 75 because yhe masses in the hobby are more drawn to it. Again, quality matters most. I have a gorgeous 84fb wax box that I would never sell for market price...we care so much about PSA grades, but fail to see that just bc there isn't a grade assessment on a sealed box doesn't mean quality shouldn't be a factor. Some day they'll grade boxes, but until then...grade yourself.
