Well Struck 1936 Buffalo Nickel
This just arrived today in the mail. This 1936 is really hammered! When I saw the listing for this particular coin; I was amazed at the amount of detail, and overall condition. The obverse has a few hits; but the reverse is quite nice. I took these photo's outside to capture the beautiful satiny luster.

That is a well struck example, and appears to be in quite good shape as well.
Ya its full like its supposed to be. If not for the gash on Indian's cheek and eyelid I would guess MS67. But for that I would guess MS65+.
Beautiful full strike coin. Would not be surprised at a 67.

Has a pleasing sandblasted appearance.

The reverse is very close to a full strike-just a little weakness on the bison's shoulder.
Even with the carbon spots?
Carbon spots noted, as well as the hit on the cheek. Ron is correct that it is very close, but not a full strike. I could be a little hasty at times in my replies. But the surfaces look real good, and remember........I said I would not be "surprised" at it going 67. It is most likely a 66 coin.

This illustrates a 100% fully struck Buffalo nickel. Non-proof Buffalos are very rarely found with a strike like this regardless of the date/Mint.

Great strike!!
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

The detail in the hair, just above the braid is spectacular. There isn't the flat, mushy appearance that seems to be typical. I really like that '23-s!
What do you think- maybe that's one of the first few strikes off new dies?
Nice coin
Yes-from fresh dies-notice the smooth, satiny surfaces. Die erosion is just as big-maybe bigger-of a problem with the Mint-marked Buffs from the late 'teens up through 1935.
Thanks for posting that, Ron. Yep, very rarely seen detail. The hair going into the knot is something scarcely seen on circulation Buffs.

Great reverse strike PocketArt!
I wish I had an image of my 36-P which I sniped on eBay 10+ years ago. The obverse strike is equal to the 23-S above. In my life I've only seen one other that could compare.
