2017 National RipFest!

So these survived the trip back to MIA

I promised a few of the guys I would post the rips. This thread is going to go on for awhile as I'm going to take y time savoring the rip!

It was a blast meeting up with fellow CU board members and ripping 79 wax at the BBCE booth.

Didn't plan on coming out of hibernation with my rip posts but hey if PackGeek can do it, so can I!

Where did you find those loose wax packs? I didn't see those years at bbce? Nice assortment...can't wait to see the 75s

The 1973s came from Floyd at Lets Play Ball. The 1970 came from Terry (1NeatStuff)'s buddy. And the 1972s came from a nice older gentleman and his wife.

First to go will be the 1973 wax. I suspect they are the dreaded 4th Series as were the ones I bought from Floyd last year when he told me the same story that they came from a box OKed by Steve.

Yes, the dreaded 4th Series. Really like the Valentine but there appears to be some discoloration on top.

Did not know you were from MIA - what part? You can probably guess which part I am from by my screen name ;)

Wow, we need to push for the national to happen in Miami!..Heck, I'm a bit further south, but it sure would be nice to have one of these conventions closer to Miami! :) The last card show we had in Key West that I went to had all of 3 dealers!..And one dealer sold his inventory to another dealer!...

I remember back in my military days (stationed at Homestead AFB down on Card Sound Road), when Dadeland Mall was the best place to go!...The Falls was for high end ritzy folks and Cutler Ridge (I always forget to call it by the new name) wasn't bad either (this is the 80's before Andrew).

I may be hoarding too much 80's junk wax but I like it!

A brief sojourn...Topps was giving away these cool redemption cards with purchases of 2017 product. This one is a beauty refractor. Pic doesn't do it justice. Numbered to 10. He's supposed to be legit.

The biggest lesson I've learned in this hobby, and in life, is that if you have a strong conviction, you owe it to yourself to see it through. Don't sell yourself, or your investments, short. Unless the facts change. Then sell it all.

Also Series 4. While pack #1 appeared to be on the high end of the crap series 4 spectrum, pack #2 appears to be on the low end.

A PSA 10 Sporting News AS card would be nice...Palmer is probably best base card in that series.

Centering isn't horrible for 1970. Horrible is when every card is miscut.

Hey, the view is worth the cost of admission, Chris!

Thanks for sharing~the Jackson card looks like a winner~not sure if that is a tough one in Mint 9 grade.

Here's the way I look at. Ripping baseball cards is the only thing I enjoy that I can get some money back for. Never got money back from a woman. Never got money back from drinking and eating. But Baseball cards I can get some money back for. Lol
