Parking downtown Denver is a PIA. Best option would be to take the light rail to get to the mint and the ANA.
OINK
Drove to Colorado last year and one of my place to visit was the Denver US Mint, lots of self park with kiosk in the surrounding area. I paid $10 for an all day parking not more than 5 minutes away from the mint. Was able to visit other places spending almost half of my day. Hopes this helps.
There is an app called Spot Hero that offers discounted parking in cities across the US. When parking downtown Chicago it' usually costs about 50$ give or take but when I use Spot Hero I have never paid more than 16$ Prime parking as well. Might get you up close cheaply.
I visit the Denver mint three times a year every year since long ago. February, July, and September. Parking is no problem. Ever. I couldn't give directions. Colfax street seems to ring a bell. I go there for the vending machine that spits out newly minted product. The tour is like..ah..Oh well I like the gift shop.
Also, if you take the tour, at the last stop you'll find yourself on the catwalk overlooking mint sets coming off a conveyor belt and being boxed and then palletized. If you're normal, the feeling you'll get seeing the pallets of proof sets, etc., is that it's all over produced common junk and you'll never again buy any of it. So why do I? Maybe I'm not normal. But I have posted 600 times. How normal is that?
There should be some nearby surface and street parking, depending on time of day. 14th Avenue passes one way going east just to the south of the Mint, and Cherokee and Bannock have parking lots just one block south of the Mint.
You may also park north of Colfax, near the Convention Center where the ANA is being held. If you're ok with walking, everything is within a quick 5-10 minute jaunt from that area. Plan to also visit Civic Center Park just east of the Mint (the building directly in front of the Mint to the east is the Denver City and County building). There should be some food trucks in the neighborhood around lunch time as well, if that's something you're interested in.
YMMV if you choose public transportation. As a local I avoid it, and use Uber/Lyft to get around if I choose not to park in the area. But that's just me.
Gonna get me a $50 Octagonal someday. Some. Day.
Thanks everyone!
Yes, the parking lots just south of the Mint off Bannock or Cherokee are good. It is easy access by turning south on Bannock when traveling on Colfax.
If you are driving to the Convention Center, I like to park in the Performing Arts complex parking just north of the convention center. Turn onto Arapahoe when traveling on Speer Blvd.
And as stated earlier, the light rail is a good option. It drops you right in from of the Convention Center. I live in Aurora, and for $5.20 I can get a 24 hour ticket and not have to worry about driving or parking. That's what I'll be doing for the ANA.
From the mint website:
"Tours will be closed on the following days:
•August 1, 2017 through August 3, 2017"
Check out the Spot Hero App.... parking availability help.
