What do you think PSA would grade this 86 J.Merchante Jordan sticker?

I know the centering is skewed a bit on the top & bottom border not to mention the dinged bottom right corner but what does anyone here think this might get at PSA if i cracked it? Would a 6 or 7 without the qualifier be realistic? I appreciate any opinions.

I think PSA could give you a miscut here. The tilt is pretty evident. I would not crack this. Cross for a 6 min grade ask.
Thanks, maybe I will try a cross. I've never had any luck crossing over with either company but maybe a going for a lower grade helps. I'd be happy with a PSA 6 if that is what came back.

Are they handcut?

I'm not definite but pretty sure these Merchante's weren't handcut.

No, they were not handcut. There is no way that crosses over to an equivalent grade. At best, it would get a MC qualifier. They are tough to find without back damage from album removal, but it would be a bad decision to crack this example out of its holder. It will retain some value due to the number on the flip regardless of the tilt, but I'd bet on a loss if cracked and resubbed.
I agree that you may end up with an MC qualifier not just because of the front, but the back looks like part of the sneaker photo may be clipped off on the left side.
I agree with trying to cross at a lower grade, but do not crack.
Good luck,

I checked out eBay and PSA has some of these labeled as hand cut and some not.

Thanks guys. I grabbed this one for the grade and because it didn't have the glue marks from the album on back. I actually got it for a really good price and would like it in a PSA slab just to match the rest of my MJ collection. If i tried to cross it,what grade would i be looking at with & without the qualifier?
I honestly wouldn't care if it got a handcut label. Most of MJ's spanish stickers from the 80's were from insert sheets with other players in the Gigantes & Basket 16 magazines. I have a ton of these I'm eventually sending to PSA that are probably all gonna have handcut on the label.

I'm seeing a 6(MC) as a likely result. If you want one in a PSA holder, get a different one. This isn't crossing. If you got it for a good price, I'd suggest you sell it and apply the profits towards your replacement purchase for one without the centering issues.
It hasn't actually arrived yet and I've been debating maybe selling it after I get a better look at it. I've had no luck finding this anywhere in the BGS Pop Report to see how it stacks up gradewise with others. In fact I can't find any of MJ's spanish cards/stickers before 1988-89 in their PR when i know there are tons of his cards&stickers from 85-86,86-87 & 87-88 that have popped up on ebay in that past year.

Sent this in for a Crossover attempt with a minimum grade of 6 with qualifier and it just popped at a Ex-Mt 6. i thought this was gonna get a Miscut qualifier for sure so I'm pretty happy overall.

Wow, congratulations! I am very surprised they didn't give it MC, but good for you!
Thanks. Can't wait to get it in hand.

Just got this back from PSA and had fun trying to straighten it out inside the slab. Still surprised it didn't get a Miscut.

Yes,very fortunate you evaded the MC desg.
Eric, I dug this old thread up due to your interest in Euro Jordans.
Did you happen to notice this mech error that has a bit of an irritating affect on the pop reports? The card should be labeled as 1989 Diario AS - Los Ases de la NBA - 13 Michael Jordan H/C, but PSA has it incorrectly as 1989 Spanish Chicle Metalica Michael Jordan - Portrait. 1989 Spanish Chicle Metalica will most likely never see any graded above a 2, due to them being gum wrappers that were distributed with existing creasing, and a 3 is nearly impossible to believe existing. The final sale pricing reflects bidders buying the label, not the card, but I would suspect that anyone bidding on this item should have known about it being misidentified:

Correctly labeled example:
Misidentified card:
Shown these scans, would PSA adjust the cert data in their records even if the owners of the items did not request it?
Yup I did see that. I actually owned the Ases at one time but didn't think PSA would grade it so sold it off. Enough show up on ebay that if they do decide to grade them i can grab another. The Chicle foil is definitely on my want list along with the other two foils with MJ on it.
It took awhile for me to actually know what i was looking at and buying with these MJ Euros and i spent a ton of time researching before that to prevent purchasing something similar to that Ases labeled as a Chicle. The #13 should have been the first marker that something didn't line up here. Although its very easy to get some of these stickers confused especially the Panini Spanish, Panini Supersport Spanish & Panini Supersport Italian stickers. I've come across mech errors on ebay & the Pop report but where certain stickers will have just under 5 total graded for one and under 10 or 20 on others, its not like the graders see these stickers that often to know which is with. Could be years between grading one then the next copy so sometimes examples like that Ases slip by. That $382 was definitely a label not the card purchase.

Not sure how I missed this thread in the past. I love the 80's European NBA stuff. I don't collect MJ, but have a decent collection of Lakers, David Robinson and a few others. The Chicle foils are some of my favorites.
Looks like BGS grades the 1989 Diario AS cards, even if they forgot to put the manufacturer on their flip and just put the set name without it:
Diario is the manafacturer? I didn't know that. Did you sub that yourself? I ask because the one I owned had a rubbery feel to the surface of the sticker and just felt different from any other trading card sticker that i've owned,it was thicker than normal too. It was just really odd.

No, I did not sub it. It is just a photo I grabbed off of completed ebay listings someone had up.
Yes, Diario AS is the publishing company, though a subsidiary under the parent publishing editorial company Semana, S.A. out of Madrid. They produced a decent number of card and/or sticker sets in Spain, especially from the mid '80's through early '90's. Most were the setup similar to typical Panini stuff, with stickers and an album you would put them into to complete the pages.
