I hope to get one more nice match before the end of the year...just a small goal...but if anyone sees a coin that needs to upgraded in my set to the 65fb stage, and its white on both sides...I will at least tender you an offer...., probably cant afford it, but you never know.
I hope some of you guys can make my coin show in greenville tx on the 22nd....starts at 9 am...till 6pm...hourly door prizes...come on out, I would love to meet all of yall....I will have the dimes on display!!
I will shut up now, and crawl back into my little office and continue to get my coins ready for the show.....
have a great weekend!

I don't have any other additions coming at the moment, but will be going to a show in Colorado Springs over the July 4th weekend. It's a small show, but has a good reputation, and usually attracts some good dealers. I hope they bring some of the tougher Mercs this year.
Question: Should Mercs more properly be kept in a tackle box instead of a safe deposit box? I'd hate for the slabs to get scratched by all those hooks.
Jim
I think I'm going Friday the 28th.

Amazing how the really old PCGS insert looks so similar to the new PCGS insert?
But a little to much to spend at this moment.
Tim
I just finished the pics of a couple of MS67FB Mercs that I added last night. They're common dates, and in older holders (not blue label), but I'm afraid they're gonna spoil me. Unfortunately, I won't be adding many in that grade, as they're expensive and don't do much to raise the weighted average in the registry. It's just nice to have a couple coins that are probably the highest grade I'll ever have for the series.

Quite the "condition rarity"!!!
Jim,
I know what you mean by "spoiled"! Those 67FBs sure are nice! ... but prohibative in earlier dates(& of course, the '45) !!
I also have a couple of "commons" in 67FBs comin' and a '29-S in MS66.
Regards,
Don

That's PCGS 2 which I believe was in use Sept 1989 to Dec 1989. Slab within a frame construction and the first slab to have a hologram on the back.

I knew that type of slab was very short-lived, but didn't realize it was only 4 months. I think I only have 4 or 5 of that type ( out of nearly 700 slabs). While they were an great improvement over the first-generation holders that allowed the coins to rotate, they don't seem to be very sturdy. The frame holds the top and bottom pieces together, there's a lot of "give" to them, and they feel like they could be broken rather easily. Perhaps someday those holders will be collectors items in their own right.
