I might go with Willie. They would score a lot of runs.
Willie Keeler
Willie Wilson
Willie Stargell
Willie Mays
Willie McCovey
That would be my first five in the batting order. Don't know who would pitch for them though.
If you could combine two first names on one team I would take Willie and Bob.
Problem solved. Pitching for my team would be Bob Gibson and Bob Feller.

I'd start with Babe and then just surround him with more babes. We'd have a slugger and enough cheesecake to fill a freekin stadium every night.
George Herman Ruth
George Brett
George Sisler
George Springer
Good start, now bring on the babes!
From my era,
Kathy Ireland
Christie Brinkely
Paulina Porizkova
Cindy Crawford
Don't forget George Thomas Seaver and George Kenneth Griffey, Jr.
The manager would be George "Sparky" Anderson.
Steve
Don't forget...George Kenneth Griffey and his son, Junior!
Beat me!
That's weird... my post is a good 30 minutes after the one right before mine about Griffey, but I swear, it was not there when I went to post.
The Earnie's
With Ernie Harwell in the booth calling the game on a slow Saturday in Detroit....the players on the field would be secondary.....and you would have Banks.
I didn't realize the Griffeys' first name was George.
George Foster would be a pretty good slugger to have on the team.
And with Seaver pitching that might be the team to beat.
George Scott could DH. Or George Hendrick.
Lou Gehrig,Lou Brock,Lou Whitaker. And Lou Piniella as manager. Because no one manager can throw a base farther in protest than "Sweet Lou".
Harmon. Killebrew gets to bat 9 times. The balls would be SOARING out of there! ;-)
How about the Eddie's
Eddie Murray
Eddie Mathews
Eddie Collins
Eddie stanky
Eddie Robinson
Ed yost
Ed Lola
Pitchers
Edd rouch
Eddie plank
Ed cicotte
And pinch hitter
Eddie gaedel
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Mickey Mantle
Mickey Lolich
Mickey Cocherane
Mickey Tettleton
Mickey Stanley
Mickey Rivers
Mickey Hatcher
Mickey Vernon
Mickey Henderson
Mark
Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Ok, I decided to go with my name. Who wants to battle against the Boston "Bill's"?
C Bill Dickey
1st Bill Terry
2nd Billy Herman
SS Bill Russell
3rd Bill Madlock
LF Billy Williams
CF Billy Hamilton
RF Bill Nicholson
SP Billy Pierce
Closer Billy Wagner
We've got pretty good brain power too. We're managed by Bill McKechnie, have executive Bill Veeck, and of course GM extraordinaire Billy Beane. That's going to be a tough team to beat.

Switch the manager to Billie Martin and I am aboard.
Unless the Lynn team was pitching and Harmon would have all K's
*Lynn Nolan Ryan
Harmon hit a home run off him on July 28th 1970 or 71. My birthday.........hey that's today!
Even if we go with just "Babe" instead of Georges, you've got Babe Herman (.393/35/130 in 1930, career 141 OPS+), Babe Dahlgren, who showed occasional pop at the plate, And Babe Adams, who had a terrific career for nearly 2 decades with Pittsburgh on the mound.
That's not a bad start!
I would take the Willie team also.

I believe Jimmy Foxx played 1st base. Jimmy Collins, a team mate of my great grandfather, played 3rd base and is in the HOF.

The George team looks like the runaway winner:
As measured by Batter Runs(which is measured vs league average).
C Kottarras 0
1B Sisler 258
2b HighPockets Kelly 68
3B Brett 508
SS Davis 261
LF Foster 230
CF Griffey 511
RF Ruth 1,383
DH Hendricks 146
SP1 Seaver 535
SP2 Waddel 286
TOtal 4,186
As for the Willie team:
C
1B McCovey 551
2B Randolph 111
3B
SS
LF Keeler 300
CF Mays 846
RF Stargell 498
DH HOrton 171
SP1 Hernandez 60
SP2
Total 2,537. Couldn't find anyone of note in the empty positions, which means they would have zero to below zero runs vs. average.
The Jim team checked in at 3,000. Using only two pitchers and putting Gattis over Sundberg at catcher.
The "Willie" team doesn't seem fair. I mean Griffey's name is George but he goes by Ken, and we still count him as a George. All of these guys who go by "Willie" have the actual name of William, so I think any variation of William ought to count. So you could add Dickey at catcher, Dahlen at short, Madlock at 3rd, Pierce at SP and substitute Williams for Keeler in the OF and Herman for Randolph at 2B. Still won't catch the George team, but it will beat the Jims.
William Roger Clemens
William Lance Berkman
William Clark
.....and
William Mazeroski....but he makes the team worse, lol.

Team William takes the lead. Took Billy Williams off the team, as it looks like Billy is his given name, not William Williams.
What about Wilver Stargell? I didn't know there was going to be so many rules on the names.LOL.
Don't know what numbers you guys are using now, but if Brett is only 3 points behind Griffey,
511 to 508, then I agree with them. I'm assuming Reggies' number is 300 or something like that
down where he belongs.
Wilver must be removed from the team then.
They are Batter Runs. Basic Linear weights. Pretty accurate. They are measured vs league average, and longevity could actually have a 'negative' effect. So there are some case by case issues that would need to be dealt wtih. Overall, it works for the purpose. They aren't as accurate as Win Probability Added...but there isn't the play by play data for the pre war guys for Win Probability Added to be used.
Reggie at 300?? No way. Why would you view him so much lower? Reggie is at 519.
For Win Probability Added, Brett beats Reggie 523 to 507, so any way you slice it, viewing Reggie as low as you do makes zero sense.
I knew Reggies' number wasn't going to be 300, just wishful thinking.
He was a prima donna, so I just don't like him. I still remember him being pulled
from right field in the middle of an inning for not hustling.
Gotcha. Fair enough. I don't appreciate that type of behavior from players either.
I didn't meant to impose "rules", I just noticed that the George list was a list of people with that given name, and the Willie list was a list of people who go by "Willie", so it was sort of apples to oranges.
Thanks for looking those all up, skin; you earned the right to take another shot at Mazeroski . Who knew anybody would choose to go by Roger if it wasn't their given name"? (With apologies to anyone here named Roger.)
