Total success with Warren Mills and Rare Coins of New Hampshire, all CACed!

affordafford Posts: 1,723 ✭✭✭✭✭

I purchased approx 35 coins from Warren approx 5 years ago, finally decided to send the group into CAC and see what stickers, everyone stickered, i.e. 30 went green with 5 going gold. And the 5 Warren opined were under graded, what a phenomenal eye Warren Mills has, and a nice guy too!

Is it time for a new sticker company? General Mills?

Why would someone not want to see them again? Where did you show them off? Also, 35 for 35 with 5 golds? Are you sure you are not blowing sunshine where it does not belong?

CAC batting averages similar to this are not uncommon among Warren's customers. He is incredibly picky on the buying side. He and JA seem to have a similar grading eye. And it's a nice bonus that he doesn't blast his own horn like some do.

I seem to recall that several years ago, Warren was marketing a sevice in which you'd send him your graded coins and he'd give his opinion of which should be re-submitted for potential upgrades.

I guess he knows what he's doing!

I am still waiting for the rest of the story. What does your comment mean? Why wouldn't we want to see them? Are we talking common Rattler Mercury dimes here? (Or worse?)

I have a terrible time posting photos, case in point I already did a bad job attempting to post one example let alone 35;)
Also it really wasn't all that long ago when I posted all of them and I wouldn't want to bore those that already viewed them.

I just checked your 22 threads you started and there are not 35 coins posted at all. Where are they? Above you said you showed them 5 years ago but here you indicate "not that long ago"? Not sure about all the cloak and dagger.

I think it's safe to say afford may have been reincarnated here at the Forum. It has great healing powers. Maybe he doesn't want to tip his hand to his identity. It's cool.

If you doubt that he got 35 of 35 it's simple enough to look at the packing list. But another thread where someone has to prove themselves

I'm sure he did. JA loves to sticker coins graded when he owned the joint

  • Wabbit2313Wabbit2313 Posts: 7,268 ✭✭✭✭✭

Listen, I hope he did, but when someone who is talking out of both sides of his mouth tells us he went 35 for 35 AND 5 went gold, I need to see it. I have sent coins to CAC for years, and tons of them. Sent boxes of Fatty's. Sent boxes of Rattlers. Never once went 35 for 35 and certainly not getting 5 golds on top of it. I hit about 50%, which is just fine with me. Show me the money Baby! I am not buying it until then!

I just cruised his site. He has a good selection of circulated commems. I know a few members collect those. Lots of lower graded mint state commems as well.

    1850-O MS-66 half dime
Here is the coin image that @afford tried to post at 4:52pm. (There was a typo with two double quotes at the end of the image location URL).
    Beautiful coin!

Wabbit, here are photos of other RCNH coins from the same location, likely part of the group of 35:

    1848-O MS-66

    1860 MS-66

    1865 MS-66

    1857-O MS-67

    1859 MS-67

    1865 MS-67

    Beautiful coin!

We discussed this coin in the 1850-0 half dime thread last week....NGC MS66 FOF CAC gold. That's typical quality for the seated coins in that group of 35. I reviewed detailed photos on a half dozen to dozen of them 5 yrs ago and gave my opinions on them. A lot of them were MS66/67 fresh old fatties (FOF). I have no reason to doubt that they all stickered. Superb looking coins. Rest assured.....these aren't MS66/67 1940's Merc dimes....lol.

If those are this group of 35, I am convinced. That 1865 is Sweet! The money has been shown and I apologize to Realone.

The 1848-0 MS66 half dime looks like a good GOLD CAC candidate. Some similarities in toning to the 50-0.

Nice job. I think I'm at 88% on Cac since the beginning, although I don't count the ones that i send that are shots, just my cac approval versus JA. 35 for 35 is amazing. Welcome back Al. I'm in Redwood City these days. Next time I'm down Carmel way we should do a lkeigwin, realone, coinlieutenant show and tell....

It could be that they often trade behind the scenes and never make it to a public bourse floor showing or a dealer's inventory. I believe Afford bought these in a deal before they made it to anyone's inventory.

CAC batting averages similar to this are not uncommon among Warren's customers.

the natural question is this --- why would a dealer leave so much money on the table???
