eBay/PayPal question

I sold a card on eBay about 10 days ago, the buyer paid immediately, but the funds said "pending", though the transaction said completed...i went ahead and shipped the card anyways, he has received and left positive feedback, but the funds still say pending...my account has no pending cases, and my pre existing balance is still there and available for use...it's been 10 days and it's over $350... any thoughts?

are you new to selling on ebay? When I opened my seller's account, every payment until roughly my 40th sale was held by paypal until the item was delivered and then it was usually a 3 day wait after that when they'd free up the funds. It was annoying but if you're selling quite a few cards it goes by fairly quick. Technically the money is in your paypal account you just have to wait for delivery or + feedback and then they release the funds within a few days. Just make sure you ship right away so it doesn't take longer than that. Hope this helps.

Hopefully you had some form of tracking on the package. Once it gets there go to the message center in your paypal account and send them a message telling them the package was delivered and to free up your funds. You should get them soon after.

I think alifawax was right. If you log into your PayPal account from a non-mobile device, you should have the option to claim the pending payment. I don't think you can do that from the app.

I didn't see an option to claim the pending payment...it's saying it's an external hold...my eBay said it was paid and ready to ship so I totally don't understand...I have sold an item since and received immediate payment so I am totally confused as to what to do here

Selling on eBay for 14 years, after sale I check My eBay, Selling, Selling Reminders, either says waiting for payment or I need to ship.

It has to be his bank holding the funds...I just can't understand why eBay would direct me to ship before they have cleared

Was it an eCheck? Those definitely have a hold period since you mentioned a bank

I was wondering if he paid by echeck...those do take forever...either way I look at it, it had to be a legit payment...papal even already took their fees from the pending amount...I just want it to hurry up and clear

Contact Paypal. They're probably just holding it till the card arrives at the buyer. If you send them a message you should hear back within 24hrs.

For my 1st month selling i had to wait roughly 3 days after feedback was left before the pending funds were released. just call paypal or send them a message rather than waiting & wondering.

Since it wasn't an eCheck, I suspect (and if you search on this forum, it's happened before), that you got stuck with one of those deals where Paypal sees this as a large sale and holds the funds. If you have been selling $20 items all the time and then all of a sudden you sell a $400 item, they can hold your funds for a period of time. I remember a good one on this topic before with a higher dollar item. As others have said, I would contact Paypal , today is probably a good day since it will be a bit quieter and see what they say, but unless you normally have $400 transactions quite often, it's probably the dollar amount that raised the flag..

that happened to me with a 1.5 k card
i shipped and they sent the money when the buyer received the card

1 simple call to paypal and they will credit you the funds once they see you have positive feedback received. It is a paypal hold and they will verify the ebay clearance. They are the only ones who you should call and the only route to take.

Not sure what they were waiting for, but after 1 message to them pointing out the situation, the funds magically appeared within 24 hours...thanks to all for your suggestions
