I was shocked when I opened the box this buffalo nickel was in. I've gotta say this is one of the best strikes for a 16-D I've ever seen. The luster is also booming. Just look at how split the rim is over "Liberty" along with full details and a split tail that you rarely see on any buffalo nickel short of a proof. At any rate I find this one over the top in many ways.
Comments are always welcome and thanks for looking.
Happy hunting, Joe

Now it's graded. Thanks again to all.
Happy hunting :)

Doubling pretty much all over the obverse.

I believe it is called "strike, machine, or ejection" doubling.

I know it as machine doubling but you can call it any of those you've mentioned.

    Joe,
I've seen most of your collection via your photos and pcgs and I must say this coin ranks near the top. Congratulations. If I had one Buff like that I would be happy.

How large is your collection of Buffalo's now? Do you have more than one complete date/mm set? I know you buy a lot of duplicates.

Top shelf Buff. 1916-D was struck better than a lot of Denver coins, and specimens like this can be found if you look hard enough. The reverse is top notch. Definitely not a typical strike for this date and mint.

    Again, nice find.
