Father's Day Rippage: 1979 Topps Football & 1979 Topps Baseball Wax Trays

Well, let's cut to the highlights. 1979 topps football was a bust. I little better T/B and the Redskins Team leader had a shot at a 10. First card (wax stained) in one pack was Tony Dorsett 2nd year (with a dinged corner  Rest of the wax tray was a bust)

Then on to 1979 Topps baseball wax tray. Is there a more difficult series to find centered in the 70s or 80s? So it is with great joy--and maybe a little pain--that I share the best of that pull. You'll know why...

While the Ozzie is super O/C, it was a blast to rip that pack and see those lambchop sideburns staring me right in the face. Probably not worth grading, but a few others had really nice centering.

Also, I pulled a pretty sweet Richard Simmons RC.

    Nice, Dan! Thanks for sharing!

The Smith is definitely worth subbing as a PSA 9OC. I know that pain all too well.

Tim, unfortunately the top right corner will prevent it from getting a nine. Definitely sucks but still a blast pulling the card

Sweet thread and thanks for sharing. Nothing better than ripping packs to celebrate being fertile :D

I have been there done that with the Ozzie before. You made me laugh with the Richard Simmons rookie. When I was reading your post I look down and all I see is the eyebrows on up to the fro and you had me for just a second. Thanks for sharing.

how weird would that be if you ripped a 79 pack, pulled an ozzie to celebrate being fertile. then you ate the gum and became sterile. just asking hypothetically of course :#

    Hiya Dan

    Thanx for the entertainment.

The Oz is only "slightly" OC on planet Melmac.

See you in Chicago. Shaved my white stash off - so I'll wear a name tag.

    Dan,

Great pull on the Oz!!! Too bad it is way OC and as you mentioned the ding on the right corner. It still must of been a huge thrill pulling it though.

Dan, I was pulling for you to get a good hit... the color and registration on that Ozzie is awesome, wishing the centering could have been better. But the thrill must have been awesome. I've never been fortunate enough to pull one, despite 79s being one of my favorite sets. Thanks for sharing.
