I agree, but given the recent change in the coins' obverse, I suspect that the coat of arms will be replacing the portrait for the rest of this pope's tenure. A few of the recent medals have been interesting, but most have been workmanlike at best and I am considering ending my collection of annuals with last year's offering and start working more on the annuals in the other direction (ie pre 1800 silvers) along with my existing focus on the jubilees and lateran possession issues. Just waiting to see what comes out in a few weeks...
Always interested in St Louis MO & IL metro area and Evansville IN national bank notes and Vatican/papal states coins and medals!

Not bad, but I would have preferred portraiture.

I agree.
I also agree with this, unfortunately.
Virtus Collection - Renaissance and Baroque Medals
Really, coins with portraits look significantly better.
