Golfpkg Please Rethink Your Posting Policy

Sorry I'm losing it.

I am in the market for a 70DC Jeff. Imagine my interest when I saw the Golfpkg post. Yet when I pulled it up no coins were being offered, just spam.

This is the stuff I think we should discourage here. Yes, its a free country, and such posts are allowed. But, frankly I plan to say when they just plan pi*ss me off.

Golfpkg seems to be new here, so maybe he doesn't know the issue. If not Golfpkg should read my open letter to DRG below. If you would like to repent, how about offering some of these pieces at actual prices here. Or, send me a PM with actual offers.

Greg

At Heller's suggestion, I changed the title of this thread.

Golfpkg (Steve Pierce) is a "Registry pioneer" having accumulated an incredible MS Jefferson nickel set in 1998-2000. That set led to the intense competition we still see today in the MS Jefferson arena, because an early Registry book (1998 or 99?) stated that the Pierce set might never be beaten!! Those words alone led Registrycoin to begin collecting them until the time he reached a precise (2) way tie for 1st place with Pierce, at which point both Pierce and Registrycoin retired their sets "dead even". Here was an example of "Registry" at its finest. Intense competition mixed with incredible respect for one another. This is seldom found in Registry competition today.

Perhaps the title of this thread should have been "Golfpkg - Please Remove Your Thread".

70DC Jeff? You are losing it. image

The board is not in 100% agreement with your position, and I suspect probably a "silent majority" that don't care, but aren't going to post that and subject themselves to attack.

Whatever the case, creating another thread is counterproductive to one of your concerns (that "spam" pushes serious* threads off the first page).

Respectfully, I think a little relaxing is in order. Or campaign PCGS to get the rules of the board changed.

Or you could start a poll (or seven). image

What a great way to greet a new member to the boards!

And to think I had just finished reading This Thread on the US coin forum! Guess we are as bad as those guppie groupies sometimes.

These are superb, registry quality coins that deserve the attention of Reg-heads! People who have been on these boards a while know it is better to put these links on the BS&T board, but Steve is a newbie (to the boards, not coin collecting), so lighten up a little!

What really bothers me here, is that one or two guys are getting singled out for these posts, when a LOT of people do this, including some big wigs on these boards...and a lot of members have an Ebay link in their signature line all the time...I mean...the nerve of them! Constantly advertising for auctions like that!

A better way to handle this might be to send a NICE PM suggesting the BS&T board as the place for this post. Just my humble opinion image

I suspect the "silent MAJORITY" completely supports Greg's notion. Wondercoin.

He should have the right to post these coins here. They are extremely high quality coins, which are excellent for a PCGS set registry, which ties into the theme of this board. You can't be so vindictive Greg, just because you don't like something, doesn't mean that it has to be your way or no way. I can see anyone getting mad at say a PCGS 2002 MS64 RD Lincoln or something, but not PR70 DCAMs! ~Brian

Wondercoin; I am in the minority then. I posted my threads not because I need the money that the advertisment brings, but because I like reading on these boards about Registry Quality coins and being told where they are being sold and how much they are selling for. I am not a Jefferson collector but a post like the one we are talking about will lead me to look at the auction and learn more about my hobby. This is an incredible set of coins being sold at auction and I am glad to be informed about it right here. If it was only on the Buy/Sell board I probably would never see it. I agree we don't want to get spammed to death. But a sale of this caliber is REGISTRY NEWS, not just another ad.
The header for this forum is "buying them, selling them, collecting them" it does not specify how we are to go about that. Nor do I think it should. As long as we are talking high quality coins people should be allowed ( without being slammed ) to say what they want and offer coins for sale how they like.
Just my opinion, but I also believe there are others out there that feel the same way. Regardless the negativity is just not appreciated.
Greg; Why don't you at least give these people your opinion in a polite manner the first time you approach them. Assuming that they know how you feel and slamming them right away is simply wrong.

"I agree we don't want to get spammed to death."

AND, IMHO, THIS WILL HAPPEN IF GREG'S POSITION IS NOT ENFORCED. image WONDERCOIN.

P.S. DRG: If you "don't need the money", then why not offer your coins to the members of this forum first before sending them off to ebay or elsewhere? Makes sense - no?

Steve Pierce is a gentleman among expert gentlemen coin collectors. How many registrants consider a "tie for first" an ultimate goal? Please give Steve a break, as he not on-line here with us 24/7. I am, but still am not clear about "Greg's new rules." I hope I haven't broken any.
One thing is clear: Steve's coins are of the finest quality, and as such, worthy of discussion on this forum.
Sorry, Steve. Great to hear from you. image
