OT: RIP Cornell

I throw this on here just because a number of us are all around the same age...having grown up in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. A super talented musician with an iconic voice for a generation. Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog were great.
I love music, but there was a definite phase where I would listen to bands like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Mother Love Bone, STP and others while ripping endless junk wax.
RIP my man.

It is too bad, all of the grundge singers are dead except Eddie Vedder. I was lucky enough to see Temple of the Dog at MSG this past November. I believe they only played 6 shows and my friend was able to get 2 tickets. It was an amazing show and he had an amazing voice.
Thanks for your post, I'll pledge my support, too. Chris Cornell is one of the main reasons I still pick up a guitar and play anything I can. If I could make it through a handful of chords or a riff he created, I'm fulfilled. The regard I have for his musical abilities can't be measured. Now my grief. I'm heartbroken.
Saw Soundgarden many times including the night of the infamous OJ Simpson White Bronco chase. Chris was giving the crowd updates as the show moved along.
Awesome stuff guys.
@travis t I'm right there with you regarding the guitar. Picking up the most recent copy of Guitar World and endlessly playing riffs and songs from all these bands, but Soundgarden was one of the top.
@72skywalker That is what makes Hunger Strike such a great song...Cornell and Vedder in their primes.
@MyDaughtersNameIsMattingly Epic story man. That is awesome
We have definitely fallen on black days.
He is considered by many as one of the top rock vocalists of all time. My brother is friends with Miles Kennedy who is the top rock vocalist today and he has said his vocal ability is unmatched. In the early 90's Soundgarden opened in Orlando at the huge show with Guns N' Roses and Metallica and they were hand selected by Axl because of his voice. What a talent.
My favorites are. Temple of the Dog - Say Hello 2 Heaven, Hunger Strike, Soundgarden -Outshined
RIP
"I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run"...RIP Cornell
Hated hearing the news this morning. Listened to a lot of Soundgarden and Audioslave over the years.

You guys better hope I don't land the first pick in the fantasy grunge draft, because off the board CC will come.
"No one sings like you anymore."
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
Say Hello to Heaven.....
He hung himself. Unreal.
Humans are so complicated.
The reports are that he died by hanging and others say he had a "band" around his neck. We shall see what comes from it.
Depression is a nasty thing if that was what was going on...
NICE! i was at the show the night before. Literally the HOTTEST show i ever attended. NO AC at the armory!

I've been jamming the satellite station Lithium since I got my new truck last week and man those were some great bands in the 90's. Takes me back to my teen years. Rip Chris
My auto guy Erik posted this on Facebook. So cool!
Loved me some Louder than Love, Badmotorfinger and Superunknown and along with Jane's Addiction's first few albums I was back in rock heaven! Terrible loss.
Soundgarden was definitely part of my high school soundtrack. CC will be missed.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
A friend of mine attended the show in the Detroit last night. She was shocked, to say the least when she woke up the next morning and heard the awful news.
IT CAN'T BE A TRUE PLAYOFF UNLESS THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONS ARE INCLUDED
When I first read the title of this thread I thought Cornell University kicked the bucket
Although I suppose it was a better title than "RIP Chris".
A great segment on MTV from many years ago...

Then him covering a song written by Prince and initially sung by Sinead O'Conner...
