  • It sure happened fast!
The last I looked it was at 2961. Wonder who the lucky winner is?

  • There are not really 3000 sets. Check out what some idiot did to run the total up and probably win the 3000th registered set prize. Someone listed a lot of sets with just one coin and gave the sets names like TYPE A, TYPE II, TYPE Z, TYPE 10. Here is a link to an example of what I am talking about. LINK These are not going to be active sets that are competing in the registry, just some one coin sets entered to run the total up and win a prize. PCGS should not allow this. JMHO
  • It's unfair.
I believe that PCGS, in name of the fair play, need cancel the award an just give it for the 3000 real set registered.

Let's go boys. Against the cheat game.

Led a movement to identify the "artist"
I bet that is a 15 to 19 year old or a stupid.
In both case PCGS need take a strong position and cancel the award.

  • Not sure if it is just coincedence or not. but the 1 coin in each of the linked one coin sets is a Franklin half. imageimageimageimage This kind of game should NOT be allowed by PCGS.

    Hi everyone,

I agree with what you are saying and believe me when I saw what happened last night, I was very upset. Clearly, our winner has no intention of maintaining 11 type sets in the registry. Unfortunately, I didn't establish any guidelines for the contest so my hands are tied for this one. Boy, do I feel stupid. You can trust that for the next contest (and there will be others) I will set some guidelines that will eliminate those from the contest who are not playing fair or whose intentions aren't legitimate.

Spooly, the winner is posted on the set registry in two places - click on the "#3,000 Wins" link or go to the news page. The winner is Type 10 20th Century Type Set, Major Types, No Gold - Circulation Strikes (1900-1999).

    Hey:

Register a real set, and you get five free gradings anyway, so who cares????

    Greg
  • Next time PCGS shouldn't announce that they are awarding a prize so no one tries to fix the contest.

I think we care because it affects the legitimacy of the registry and we are all part of the registry. Everyone needs to follow the rules and guidelines and not try and circumvent the system. Just like you are upset with postings on the Registry Forum with coins for sale on eBay and Teletrade, we are upset with the person that registered 11 one coin sets in the Type Set Registry.

You get five free gradings for registering a set? I didn't know that. Is there information somewhere on how to get those?

  • Russ,
Take a look in the page of Registry in the topic "Benefits".

Russ, it's one of those benefits that hardly anyone know about. When you register a set that's at least 90% complete, you then contact customer service, and they'll you give you 5 free submissions to help complete your set.image
