1986 Fleer Jordan - flip or not? Looking at a PSA 8...

Looking for advice. I had a choice of a PSA 8 or a Beckett 7.5 years ago - I always go on the philosophy of buying the card, not the holder (so I took the Beckett 7.5). This card was much nicer than the PSA 8 that I was offered (old flip). I am possibly looking to flip it over to PSA, hoping for an 8. I honestly don't see the centering being a "7". For the corners, there is a tiny touch on the bottom right (very, very small), otherwise the card is gorgeous. Thoughts? Odds that I would get an 8?

Funny, I've got virtually the same card except the centering is off to the bottom the same way rather than the top. I've told people I believe it would grade 7.5 from BGS and not sure what PSA would do with it. IMO, while I personally wouldn't call that centering a "7", I doubt PSA is going to grade that an 8 because they will say that centering is "worse" than 70/30.
I actively collect Kirby Puckett. I have collections of Michael Jordan, Emmitt Smith, Roberto Clemente, Dwight Gooden, Tom Seaver, Errict Rhett and Evan Longoria.
Mine is similar with very sharp corners at an 8. Sometimes I think it could bump to a 9
For the OP, I think PSA is much harsher than BVG/BGS on corners so the 7.5 wouldn't fly there with the bottom left for me. I think it is max a 7 for that reason, and won't hit an 8 unless everything else is beyond strong and even then probably not.
For the other poster who pasted their's above ^. I think the flaking on the surface right side would hold it out of a 9 but it is an extremely attractive card. Sharp 8 in the least!
IMO, the 86 Jordan is the most inconsistently graded card out there. Probably not a coincidence given they have graded more of that card than virtually any other, but still. There's one in advertisements that has a PSA 10 slab and it clearly has white showing on the borders on two places(its even on PSA's website in the online SMR on the 86 fleer page). That's not a 10 based upon the language of PSA's grade descriptions. IMO, its way past time to pretty much "ignore" grades on this card. PSA has graded over 16,000, add in BGS and its way over 20K. Its not a rare card, the grades aren't consistent and its very questionable if legitimate collectors are actually paying the prices reported.

That's a tough call but I would try it. Would it be worse less if it came back a PSA 7?
Dan's, pictured above has better top to bottom centering.

Great advice - I think I will leave it alone. The "8" above is much nicer than mine (but I would've given that an 8.5 or 9 though) I don't think they would push mine up. Tough choice at the time - BVG 7.5 in the left hand and a PSA 8 in the right hand - decisions, decisions. This one was much nicer though. The PSA 8 should've been a 6.5 or 7.0 IMO - which is a problem with the old grades. The grading has become more consistent at PSA, but much tougher of late!
