Hodges is an interesting subject. If you look at all of the certified signatures on eBay, you'll see stark differences in the style. I think what you have there is good, but not all of his signatures have that flair yours has. Maybe there was a time frame difference (his signature changed) or maybe it is night and day between appearances and at the ballpark type autos.
Here are a couple I have for comparison:

Real or not I have no idea on the Hodges, but it is definitely a nice auto with flair and it's very legible. Wish more autos looked like this today.
Good luck with it.

Do schools even teach cursive anymore? Makes it hard for anyone to have a nice signature if they don't have practice. I teach high school, and I have students that just print their signature because they can't write cursive at all.
Cursive and understandable writing in general is slowly becoming extinct. I find it hard to pay for and don't for big $ autos. one cannot read/understand. One that has to be explained to the uninformed viewer. Regardless if it is authenticated. How can you enjoy it if you cannot even understand it. I receive a paycheck and the authorized signature by my boss is merely a curved line, but that's okay as it still cashes out. But I would never know it is his auto.
I know they did 20 or so years ago when my daughter was in elementary school, but I'm not so sure they still do now.

No, cursive is not taught anymore...neither are multiplication tables
Don't get me started
Well, that pretty much explains it then.
