Very old Chinese 1000 Cash Commemorative Coin

Would love some input on this very unusual coin. I purchased it from a VT college professors estate many years ago along with his collection of Chinese coins that he accumulated while there on sabbatical to learn. He was well received and brought back many nice things. This I could not sell. Way too much fun and only recently figured out the symbols that I believe relate to the Birthday of the Lotus celebration held each year.

If you can help with rarity or market interest I would love to know. I am simplifying what I own and do not wish to send it anywhere that it doesn't belong.
