1988 MS69 $5 GE Just Crossed to PCGS

This is the FIRST time I have ever had any coin in any holder cross to PCGS in the same grade. Believe it or not it has happened. I had a NGC MS69 1988 $5 GE and decided to send it to PCGS in its holder to see if it would cross. Amazingly, it did, and I am one happy camper as I have been looking for this one for a long time for my registry set.image

  • Nice job!
Couldn't have asked for a nicer coin to cross too. That is one tuff date and grade to get in PCGS let alone a cross fom NGC! Wow!!! Congratulaions!

  • Thanks Larry. I thought the coin looked niced enough to cross, but I understandably was apprehensive since I have never been able to get any slabbed coin to cross. Kinda restores my faith in PCGSimage

Nice job, I have gotten PCGS to cross some ANACS Proof Morgans, and a few NCG Proof Morgans. But all in lower grade (PR63 and PR64), I could never get them to cross a 65 or higher... Congratsimage
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • Good job, Bob !! They're SUPER tough to cross !! Way to go !! That should save you some bucks !! image

  • I usually "crack 'em out" and send them in thinking that I have a better chance (that is if I have a coin that deserves the grade) of getting it graded at the same grade. Someone posted a thread about "slab bias" and I happen to agree with that. I would never send an ICG slabbed coin to PCGS expecting it to cross. I always crack them out and submit them. At any rate, I'm happy with this cross--it enabled me to complete my MS69 $5 GE registry set.image
