1877 Trade $1 worth grading?
I won this 1877 Trade dollar from a descent & trusted ebayer for under $140 including s/h. It was listed as having been cleaned and/or has an issue. Did I pay too much or did just fine? Is worth sending to a TPG? Thanks.

How do you "know" they are decent and trusted? Fwiw, a 100% FB rating doesn't indicate either.
If you don't know yourself if this was a fair deal or not, you should not be buying these. Very sharp strike for an 1877....which would make me look very closely at it for authenticity. Could be fine for what you paid. And then again, it might not be.

Trade dollars are one of the most counterfeited coins. Unless you know the series, I would be hesitant to buy one raw. Do they have a return policy so you could put that money into a TPG certified version?

@roadrunner, thanks for your comment. I bid/won/bought from the same eBayer for more than 10x for sure and they always deliver the correct item with fast shipping and money back guarantee besides having 65K+ feedback. As far as the Trade dollar, that is the first one that I bought raw and my first Trade dollar as well so that I can at least have a sample in my collection. Thanks again.

It would come back as UNC details because of the cleaning. It's usually a bad idea to buy trade dollars raw because they are so commonly faked.
