1975 Gary Carter PSA 9 The RESULTS from the Review

SmokieSmokie Posts: 393 ✭✭✭

This card came from a PSA 5 graded wax pack that I picked up in a bin a while ago. After submitting Carter and a few other I got Carter back a 9, thought I see what you board members felt about the card and they were the same as mine. Sent back to California for a review and here are the results. I want to thank all of you for your positive remarks about the card..

Stunning card! Love the registration and color in addition to of course the centering.

Great looking card that would not have been out of place if it came back in a PSA 10 holder.

Wowzers - that card could have easily been a 10. Worth a review (or 2) perhaps?

And the problem with this card is supposedly what.....?

(looks at PSA online price guide....)

So I am supposed to believe there is somebody out there who would pay no more than about $500 for that card, but they'd pay $8,000 or more for a "better" one?

    (shakes head)

I actively collect Kirby Puckett. I have collections of Michael Jordan, Emmitt Smith, Roberto Clemente, Dwight Gooden, Tom Seaver, Errict Rhett and Evan Longoria.

That is one helluva card! The only thing I see is that the BR corner might have a slight speck of white , also, we don't have a back scan. As much as I would like to have it get a 10, I am glad that PSA is super strict on giving that grade out

That is one awesome pull-congrats! From a wax, rack or cello pack?

I think it has a very decent chance to bump upon review.

When I look at the nice 9s I've submitted next to the 10s I've received I see little to no difference. As a result, I think submitting with expectation of a 10 is a mistake. I expect 9s on everything and see a 10 as a pleasant surprise.

Very nice! I think I recall that pack listed on eBay. Sold very quick on a BIN.

Any other submittable cards in the pack besides the Carter?

I guess the saying don't judge a book by it's cover fits nicely here. A PSA 5 pack turns out a PSA 9 or possible a PSA 10 card.

    Nice score. :+1::+1:

Beautiful card. The '75 Topps is my favorite all time set. Great, colorful design, chock full of rookies and HoF'ers, hard to find in high grade.

It's just too bad Freddie Lynn didn't finish his career in Boston. Hitting in Fenway would have given him a shot at the HOF.

    Wow, nice score!
PWCC sold a Carter rookie psa 9 for me a couple months ago that brought $648.50
So yours has jumped from that value to who knows how high?
Mine was a very high end 9 also, maybe I should have had it reviewed.

You got that right...3 sales this year with a VCP average of around $7,100.

Awesome score and great looking card! It is our version of hitting the lottery!

Not to be Danny Downer here, but what's the white spot on Meyer's cap? Is it on the actual card?

If so, I personally have a bit of difficulty calling that a legitimate 10.

Just wondering.....was the Carter visible on the top/bottom of the pack, or was it a "shot in the dark"?
