PCGS Guarantee Submissions

Has anyone submitted coins that were overgraded or had problems in the holders for the PCGS Guarantee submission? If so, what was the turnaround like for that?

Thanks!

My guarantee submission was booked in on 01/16 and shipped on 04/17.
Two Morgan's, one was bought back and one was conserved and sent back at the same grade.
The one that was bought back was a PL coin that was barely PL. It was purchased more than 10 years ago, so it might have been the low standards for PL coins back then or a mechanical error.

The other coin developed a small spot and they said that the grade was still correct. I asked if it could be run through the restoration service and I would pay any associated fee.
They actually did that at no charge.

The process took 3 months, but overall they were very fair.

I just had one last week shipped out that was received on June 2nd of last year. Had another one earlier this year that was much faster (about a month).

My longest wait was 9 months. But usually just a few.

How did the restoration turn out?

It turned out well. The coin was blast white when purchased it, but developed a spot of discoloration.
They probably used some kind of chemical dip to remove the spot. I'm guessing the previous owner might have dipped it and left some kind of residue that developed into the spot.

The coin was in a plus graded holder and didn't look very plus with spot.
I don't have any before and after pictures, but it now looks like any other blast white Morgan dollar widget

My experience has been long waits even with a letter or judgment from PNG expert on one case; it is tough to get acknowledgement that would cost the company $$$. NGC generally has been better, faster and a clear response.

As others noted...a LONG LONG wait :(
I had one that sat on David Hall's (HRH's) desk for months. Got back reasonable compensation (PR69DCAM Kennedy had contaminant in the holder that turned the coin after I purchased it from someone on ebay). Compensation was very fair and I was made whole and given the coin back, raw. (there is no way it would/should be holdered straight up again).

A couple more I sent in sat for months and weren't given any change at all.

So, it can take quite awhile.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
