What do you do with extras? (1960's topps cards)

I am relatively new and was hoping for some input for the veterans / more experienced people on here. What do you guys do with your extras? I decided to crack open some old boxes and am working on completing a few baseball sets from the early 1960's. I am trying to figure out the best way to maximize value on my bigger name, lesser quality extras (i.e. 62 Maris, 61 Mays MVP, 60 Banks etc). Quality isn't terrible, just rough corners or maybe a crease or really off center. Either way, should I....

  • look to trade/sell at a local shop?
  • list on ebay?
  • take the whole lot to one dealer?
  • save and take to National in July and look to sell/trade?
  • submit for grading and just save for a later time?
  • something else?

Although I am still looking to complete a few sets, I am not dependent on the money of these extras to acquire the cards that I am looking for, I just want to maximize the value and do the best thing. Any thoughts/comments?

Welcome to the boards. I had a lot of luck joining a few collectors groups on Facebook and selling mine there. Find ones relating to set builders and post what you got. Lots of people looking for mid grade lots.
