Can you "soak" a modern card?

Hi all,
I know some think it is taboo, but I am curious about if anyone has tried to soak a modern card. I got a 2003 Lebron James Topps base card for $20 since it looked like there was a small stain or something on it. When I got it, you can tell that the top right 1/3 of the card is water damaged, but there is no separation of the paper or anything and the centering/corners all look good. I wanted it for my PC so just wondering if anyone thought that soaking a modern card could work to clean the stain/damage. Thanks for any ideas.

I don't think so but I've never tried. Put some glue on a junk card and giver a try.
