If I understand the weighting and bonus point system, for most years, it is a tie, because for most years the pl merits only one additional point. Thus, for those years, being the more common years in most cases, the 63pl equates to 63 plus 1 for a total of 64, so the 63pl and the 64 are given equal weight in the PCGS registry. You must look at the registry though -- some of the tougher years assign additional points for pl. For instance, an 1883-S in pl merits 2 bonus points in pl, so a 63pl in 1883-S would equate with a ms65. PL bonus points range from 1 to 3. DMPL bonus points range from 2 to 5. I suggest you print out the weighting system for easy reference. I hope this helps.
    I brake for ear bars.
  • Also, you only get the bonus points for PL, DMPL in the Morgan Prooflike set. There are no bonus points for PL, DMPL in the regular/variety circulated sets.
