Man, i was doing so well with focusing my numismatic spend, too...
Visited a new (to me) coin shop in Toronto West and had an great conversation with a passionate coin dealer about coins, market, books - you name it. He didn't have any colonial mexico, but did mention he had an album. One look at the coins and I knew I must photograph these beauties! He was very fair on the price and I walked out smiling ear to ear.
This is one of the albums released by Mexico Mint to commemorate 180 years of Federation. 35 100-Peso coins, all beautiful MS with every color of the rainbow you can imagine, are bi-metallic and contain a half ounce of silver surrounded by a bronze outer ring. These things are pretty large, too - 39mm.
Going to remove them from the album for storage, since some of the coins are starting to display toning nearing terminal, but will definitely keep it as a set along with the album.
Now to acetone wash these beauties and take some individual glamour shots!!!

Well, just finished taking all the photos and cropping. Learned that bronze does not tone gracefully. A mixed bag overall - quite a few wonderful looking coins and some that I would consider at this point to be environmentally damaged and should be conserved. First page was the most cruddy with the later pages having a more pleasant tone. I took them out of the album and gave all an acetone bath to hopefully stabilize the toning process. Now residing in 2x2's.
All in all - had fun taking photos. Really like the designs on these.
