    Check out the color of 1986 Proof packaging . should be a maroon type color . Proof ? no way
    Don't know a proof ? just browse the bay ..searching American Eagle Proof

    Value, to many/most, is going to be going rate for SAEs (~spot+$3 or so).
    Check ebay for 1986 UNC (not proof). Selling to a coin shop would get you spot or just a tad above.

    I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    The problem with this instruction is that as the other posters have stated, the OP's coin is not a proof ASE nor is the Mint packaging correct for a 1986 proof ASE.

    Below is a 1986 proof ASE in original Govt packaging. Not sure if I captured the burgundy or purplish color.

    Apologies for the poor pics. Hopefully this helps.

    well, I freed it from that stupid capsule, threw out the dumb box and added the coin to the tube of ASE's.
