Hello everyone,
I received an email from Manny A (Flatfoot) telling me he was heading down to NYC to see his daughter perform in a play. He wants to get together to meet some fellow Long Island collectors, so he is coming to Long Island a day early and we will be going out on Friday March 31 @ 7:00pm. We will meet at Millers Ale House in Lake Grove for food and beer (and soda for those who don't drink).
Manny enjoys ripping old wax (ever see his video of the '69 Basketball Wax Rip?) so who knows what he has in store for that night. Would love to have as many people as possible, so if you are interested in going please reply to this thread.
STAY HEALTHY!

I would love to see them. Direct message me a pic. I am always in the market for nice cards from the sets.

I went into the vault and pulled some mid to late '70s racks and some '80s to rip. Bring some top loaders
and bellies to consume alcohol
How about a few pics fellas.
Looking forward to seeing you all in Chicago.

I'm in Doug. Eric, if you want to swing by we can head up there together.
Looking forward to catching up with everyone and, of course, seeing Manny. Too bad Tim can't make it, all work no play makes Tim a dull boy.

If you guys were meeting up a bit later, I'd be able to swing by, but I don't get off the train till about 9.
Plus I hear ripping will commence and I don't want to have to comfort Mike as he sobs uncontrollably.

Translation: The short bus doesn't go all the way to Miller's on Friday night
I hope you guys take some pics since we didn't get to see any last year (at least i dont think anyone took any although I know there were some two years ago). Even though Nick Offerman's twin isn't going to be there it will be nice to see the group again, gathered together at a table with more packs than drinks!
Being from the Island myself, I'd really love to be there to rip some packs with you guys. You know that's a fact lol. Unfortunately, won't be in NY at the time.
There's only one short bus, Dave, and it stops a lot further north than Long Island, LOL..

Tim. For the first time I will have a drinking partner!!!!! SO, I think I will be sucking down some cold ones instead of soda. Methinks Manny and I may get there before 7:00.

That looks like a lot fun right there!
Holy Crap Manny!!!!!!!! You will be ripping more than everyone together has ripped in all of our past Miller's adventures!!!!!

Please don't rip those racks. LoL
They call me "Pack the Ripper"
I normally don't rip racks.
But when I do it's with guys who I have never met but known for 10+ years via the CU Boards
Ok-met Mike n Eric at the Natty in 2013??--but looking forward to my CU Board brothers Tim n Doug
NICE!!!!!!!

Wish I could join you guys but the meeting is on the wrong coast. Have fun and share some pictures.
Picking Manny up from the train station in a few hours. Looking forward to seeing everyone tonight. Beers and pack ripping ... What a night!

Will be there late, but will be there, Douglas! Looking forward to it!
Manny, hold back one of those vintage racks to rip!

Enjoying the train ride into LI. Not many people would understand us getting together to drink and enjoy these types of racks. I hope Miller's is chick heavy
Manny has landed in Suffolk County. He was carrying a bulletproof attache case with all kinds of goodies inside. Just dropped him off at his hotel. Will be picking him up in an hour and we will head to Millers. Looking forward to a night of fun.
PS Manny, I honestly don't think grown men playing with baseball cards is going to attract very many ladies! HAHAHAHAHA

Had a blast with you guys tonight! Pulling the Eck RC from the 76 rack was awesome! The Winfield looked MINT, as well! Not often you come out ahead ripping vintage unopened! Glad I got there in time to participate in the main event, LOL..

Well is was certainly good to hang out with Doug, Mike' Eric n Tim. Great to have finally met Doug n Tim.
We had a blast opening the racks. Note the use of the steak knife to cut open the racks. I thought Mike was gonna puke when we did that.
Got nothing from the 77-78-81 racks worth mentioning. The 79 wax tray was terrible. Warped cards and a smell of must that brought out our allergies. And it was FASC--our 2014 group rip. Just goes to show you FASC ain't always the best thing if the case wasn't properly stored for years
The 76 rack was interesting. It was 1of 16 racks sent to Steve for wrapping 2 years ago. All were authenticated by Steve except this one. He didn't feel this one was legit. Guessing due to location the asterisk cards.
Both Tim n Mike were skeptical because of the single/double asterisk cards being in the wrong cells. Well it was a good experiment. Tim took the honors of opening the rack. 5 or so cards in and he hits an Eckersly rookie. A nice one. Then got a really nice Winfield. And a few other minty cards. Clearly a good rack
Mike n Tim's knowledge of the cells that had star cards was amazing. Tim was calling the cards before he saw them!
I'll post pics later. On the LIRR to the city and can't figure out how to load them from my phone
Thanks for a great night guys!! Beers on me for whoever comes to Rhode Island!!
Props again to Manny for bringing that loot for rippage! An awesome time all around with a lot of laughs! Squeaky says hi, Manny, lol..
Steve not wrapping that 1976 rack wound up working out in your favor~it isn't often you crack a vintage rack and come out ahead! HOFers in that rack included Eck RC, Winfield, 2nd year Carter and Reggie, all of which were razor sharp sharp and very nicely centered too (the Reggie was probably the only one not as well centered). There were a few gem commons, too, including a Dodgers team card, a 1975 World Series card and checklist. Surface and registration on the cards coming out of that rack were phenomenal.
I'm still sneezing from that 79 wax tray, lol..Doug, how could you crease that Joe Zdeb card, LOL!
Till next time!
