There are ( 3 ) sets registered in the PSA set registry for the 1948 Bowman Football; Davalillo , David Hall , and the Rider Collection . I am the owner of the Rider Collection . The set registered to David Hall is not listed in the current finest sets - I also checked that set and his registered card for #16 TOMMY THOMPSON was a PSA 9. The only other possible set registering that card, with that serial number, is Davalillo . The #16 TOMMY THOMPSON card has only ( 5 ) PSA 8s listed in the current PSA population report.

Any suggestions? I have not had a rsponse from PSA via e-mail yet.

Thank you.

  • All it means is the person you bought it from has not yet removed it from his/her registry set. Email the seller and ask that he/she do this and you will be able to put yours on the registry. I have sold cards that I had listed on the registry and had to remove them so the person I sold them to can register the card in their registry. It sometimes takes a day or two.

    Thanks ED,

There are only ( 2 ) active sets in the PSA registry set for 1948 Bowman football.

The only active members (current finest) are myself and Davalillo. David Hall is only in the all-time finest set.

    1948 Bowman

Davalillo is not the seller of the card - that is why it is confusing.

Someone must have registered this card before and forgot about it. I have a related question....If I register a 1957 Mantle card for my Mckey Mantle set, can I then enter the same card for my 1957 Topps set??

Always looking for 1957 Topps BB in PSA 9!

Carol and Gayle have always taken care of this. They have the information about who the card is registered to. I would send a scan along with an explanation to them. There is a link to contact set registry below the message that you received.

    Thank you ALAN,

I received her (GAYLE's ) e-mail response last evening/early morning. She mentioned that this person states they did not sell the card.

There is a big difference from a pending sale vs a no sale. The card was purchased on EBAY and the auction clearly shows the PSA serial number.

I am always anxious to list the card in the PSA set registry upon winning an EBAY auction. I do not want to go through the hassle of a stolen PSA serial number is the set registry - not that it ever would occur. I was involved once were a person listed the card in the PSA set registry assuming they were going to win the EBAY auction - the person then lost to me ( I really wanted the card and went way over SMR - low pop). They had e-mailed me after the close of the auction to tell me what they had did, if I was a fellow set collector - that was nice.

It is also exciting to have the cards updated in the set registry, it is usually current by the time the card is delivered.

I guess this one will require more follow up, however it does raise some concerns?

I would ask to see a copy of the police report from the guy who claims he didn't sell the card image Or, maybe there's two of them.

Sorry--I had 2 psa 8s of this card at one time--sold one and left the number of the one I sold in the registry. I just made the change. It should work now.
As an aside, I have about 10 cards that will not register where an error message flashes up including t206s, 1940 play ball Williams and 1952 Topps.

    Davalillo -

Thank you for the post - it answers the mystery. I guess the world of low population cards is a small one at that.

The 1948 Bowman and the 1952 Bowman small set are tough - any graded material is scarce.

If you have any advice on these sets, please let me know. With your current listings in the PSA registry sets, I can tell you have extensive experience with these cards.
