What is the state of the market for obsolete notes?

I collected obsolete notes very actively between 1986 and 1991 but then sold my collection and never looked back. As a result I currently have no feeling for the obsolete note market at all. How is that market? What, if anything, is popular and what is not?

    Every state is different. You will have to search auction records. Higher grade obsoletes (VF+) sell better graded even on common notes.

    So slabbing has taken hold in the obsolete market? That's something I would not have expected to happen.

    Folks who do not know the category will pay for the plastic.
