Possibly cleaning an ASE

So I picked up an 1989 ASE yesterday for my dansco album. I'm trying to get some of the best looking Eagles for my set. When I got home I noticed some smudge marks on the obverse side and the rim was kinda dirty. Is there a safe way to clean the coin without damaging it or hurting the value or is the best thing to do is leave it alone?

Acetone for an hour and toothpick or thorn the crud. It's just bullion though so if that doesn't work sell it and buy a fresh one.

Don't do what I did - after buying an estate about 13 years, and finding some ASE's that were poorly stored and had developed some vivid electric toning, decided I better dip them out, as I had always seen them blazing white.... :s

At that price level with whatever effort or time you may have to put into it, I would suggest you simply buy one that you like.

Wrap it in some napkins and put it in the window ledge for a few months. When it tones, flip it for a profit and take the proceeds to buy another blast white example.
