TTM Predicament- Opinions/advice needed

Got these back in the mail today from Gene Conley. Conley is the only athlete to have rings in two different sports, so getting this back is pretty cool. However, if you notice he didn't sign em, just gave the inscription I asked for. This is the second time I've wrote him. Last time he signed the index card and did the inscription on the letter I sent him. I think he's just confused. Each time I write him it's $5. Not a lot of money, but if you have to send money to him to sign, you want it to be how you want it right?

Do I send these back and write and ask if he can just include his name on here? I feel bad continuing to write him, and don't want him to get upset or feel bad or whatever, but I do want his signature on here.

Thoughts?

Are you spelling his name "Conely" on the envelope like you spelled it in your post??? Because It's "Conley". If you are maybe he's mad you don't know how to spell his name! :)

ETA: He's also 86 years old--cut him some slack!! :)

Also anyone know what W.P. 1955 Game could mean? Winning Pitcher? That just doesn't seem to make much sense. What does WP mean in basketball?

Yes, Gene Conley was the winning pitcher in the 1955 MLB All Star Game. He wasn't even in the NBA in 1955.

I know I spelled it correctly because I caught myself misspelling it when I first started writing a letter, and had to start over. I know he's up there in age, that's why I'm just looking for suggestions. That's why I had said maybe he's confused, and don't want him to be upset or feel bothered by me writing him again. But I do want his signature on there.

The project I'm working on is writing players that have been part of unique/historical sports moments and having them inscribe them on index cards. I don't know how many people out there is doing anything similar so I can't just go on eBay and buy one, ya know?

Yup. I looked that up afterwards and then it made sense. Thanks.

If the index cards, as they are now, will not fit into your project, I would send them back and ask him to sign his name where you indicate.

Eight years ago I sent Mr. Conley a card to sign. In addition to signing and returning the card, he responded to a couple of items in my letter.

Gotta admire his honesty about the "problem" in playing baseball!
