Half Point Question

Looking for a generic formula to calculate the value of cards with half point grades, below the NM 7 scale (i.e. 4.5s, etc). I understand this formula is just that, and doesn't translate to real-world pricing. For example, this is provided for lower grade cards as per SMR (and yes I also know the values of SMR lack accuracy in many cases).

For grades not found in SMR:

PSA EX 5 = valued at approximately 60%-65% of the PSA 6 grade
PSA VG-EX 4 = valued at approximately 60%-65% of the PSA 5 grade
PSA VG 3 = valued at approximately 65%-75% of the PSA 4 grade
PSA Good 2 = valued at approximately 65%-75% of the PSA 3 grade
PSA PR 1 = valued at approximately 65%-75% of the PSA 2 grade

Does any such formula exist for cards with half-point grades? Thanks.

I've seen them sell for about the same as the next grade up or just barely above the grade below. It's all about eye appeal with the half pointers.

I usually just average out the value of the grades above and below. So for a 4.5, it's the PSA 4 value plus the 5 value divided by 2.

"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."

Agree with LarkinCollector it is mostly about the eye appeal. I would also add that a low pop 8.5 would probably sell closer to a 9 than to an 8.
