Has anyone had a package damaged or stuff missing when mailed to PSA?

Here is how my package arrived yesterday; Does it look like machine damage or like someone broke in with their hand and theft? Item was refused and being mailed back to me. Does the PO video their receiving dept?

Let us know when it's returned if anything is missing............

I would hope that the box is not being returned to you looking like that without some other protection.

Just sent two small orders and this is always my worst fear. Sorry to hear this.
I'm sorry to hear about this. It is a fear that I'm sure most of us have when sending our cards to PSA. To try and prevent this, even if sending Priority Mail I don't use a Priority Mail Box. I think they are fragile boxes and easily crush. I use the boxes that PSA sends the graded cards in. It's a sturdy box and when taped all the way around it is pretty hard to crush or tear.

I stopped using the USPS for high dollar stuff because of incidents like this. At least in my area (SoCal), the USPS is hiring a lot of temps to sort and deliver mail. Last weekend I had to pick up a package on a Saturday morning and there was a long line of people wanting to speak with the Supervisors about lost/damaged mail.
I highly suggest everyone to look into UPS/FedEx options for the expensive items.
Hope everything is in there but If sending anything of value threw USPS>>>>>>>>>Registered Mail is the best way!
I would have someone witness the opening of the package. (preferably a postal employee) Especially if it was insured.

I showed the picture to my post man today, he thinks it was a machine. I guess I'll find tomorrow, if anything is missing, {hopefully} when I'm supposed to get it back. Lesson Learned. I don't understand why PSA could not call me and ask me if I still wanted them accept the package and then notify me if anything was missing. They could check the order slip. I know they have video in their receiving room.

Never mail anything valuable in the Post Office priority boxes they give you. I have had several arrived damaged and noticed the cardboard is ultra cheap and flaps dont close good.

Happened to me a couple years ago. I had about $3000 worth of cards in the Priority Mail box. I was checking the tracking number and it said that PSA refused to accept the package. I called PSA and they confirmed that, saying the box was damaged and their policy is to not accept damaged packages. The box was returned and it looked like it had sat out in the rain for awhile. Fortunately, I had enclosed my submissions in a zip lock bag so they suffered no water damage. I took it to the post office and told them I didn't feel that I should have to pay another $28 to ship it again and the customer relations person agreed and gave me a refund. The second shipment arrived at PSA with no problems. I now completely cover my packages with clear shipping tape when I send them to PSA.
Thanks Rich and all. I feel better and good advice on tape. Hopefully it arrives Fri and I can sleep at least.

I agree with vols1 post about not using priority boxes supplied by the USPS. Notice how PSA ships the cards back with the box fully covered in the brown tape and not in a USPS box. The last batch I sent had about 3500 dollars worth of cards and I paid for extra for overnight shipping. Registered mail is the most secure/safest but it will take a lot longer to get it to PSA. Good luck when you receive it back. Hoping it is all there and not damaged.
registered mail is the only way to go...and it might take 3 days to get there from where I live as opposed to 2....no big deal as long as the cards arrive safely....that IS a big deal if they don't
Collector of Vintage Golf cards! Let me know what you might have.
Postal inspectors are pretty good at their jobs. However, an investigation likely will take many months. Sorry to hear about this. Shipping Insurance may help if you bought it when shipping
My packages back from PSA are always in priority boxes but they are taped up with reinforced clear tape.

I had a package arrive damaged 'to' PSA. They contacted me and returned it. Minor damage. I repackaged and resent it.
Thanks,
