Current PCGS turnaround

PCGS has had a early dollar of mine for aver two weeks. It will be three on Friday. They acknowledge having the coin but for some reason are very slow on this one. Anybody having the same experience at present?

5 coin submission economy raw grading (lincoln cents)

    Checked in on December 2nd
Still in queue as of March 1st

    3 calendar months

Pcgs does random order grading,, not first in first out

I also have an express submission that was checked in on January 10th -- still in queue as if March 1st -- nearly 2 calendar months on that one and waiting.

What did you submit that takes 2 months? Was this some esoteric variety that required attribution or something unusual?

The statistics are not making me optimistic about the crossover submissions I just mailed out. :o

Cameonut, with pcgs's random order grading procedure, with subs NOT being taken in a first in, first out scheme ... it means that some subs could be done in a week while others could take 4 months. Its not predictable. Over the past 3 years i've sent multiple subs (just plain old regular lincoln cents) in the same shipping box, checked in on the same day and one sub might be done in 4-6 weeks while the other languishes for 3 months. This has not been an isolated event, but has happened over and over again on well over 200 submissions.

The one thing thats predictable about pcgs's turnaround time is that its not predictable.

Just because my economy sub is on its 4th month and my express sub is rolling up on its 3rd month in queue -- doesnt mean that your sub might not get done in 2 weeks. Random order grading does that -- subs jump over each other all the time.

FALSE. They know exactly the order they progress in. Maybe they just choose to put yours on the back burner. Maybe you submit low quality submissions that don't garner much income.

he said economy. How much are economy coins worth? Don't you find it hard to believe they just throw the submission into a giant pile and pull them out in random order? Come on man.

He also said Express, which is a 5 day turnaround not 2 months.

It was good enough for PCGS to display in their Long Beach Show last year.

No offense intended @dbtunr r but that was a classic mic drop. LOL :)

I have an order which was signed for on 2/23 and as of 3/1 is still "pending order entry". Estimated turnaround times are meaningless at this point.

MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.

Best to just put this one on ignore, he comes and argues with us like we are short CU as if this is a stock board, despite the fact he has not submitted a single coin somehow knows the process inside and out, and insults those that CU profits from.

    WOW, that escalated quickly.
My last submission was mid January, regular and took only 2 weeks. Considering the huge number of coins they do per month I was impressed.

Been waiting on an economy submission that arrived in late December and got logged on 01/04/2017. Since then I have sent another economy and a regular, and I'm about to send out two more economies. Ouch. Seems like people reallllly want to get their coins out of NGC holders, eh? LOL

searched around the expanding website and found the current estimates

    https://pcgs.com/statistics/

Do days start when they picked up package from PO or from when they unpack and log submission in?

  • ManorcourtmanManorcourtman Posts: 8,195 ✭✭✭✭✭

8 days for Express is unacceptable.

  • davewesendavewesen Posts: 6,671 ✭✭✭✭✭

They have something I have not seen before ->

    Submissions received pending order entry

I also remember having submissions that were delivered (via USPS tracking) and took a few days before showing up for orders received date

I wonder if they cut turn around time in half, if they would get more submissions?
