I was poking around on eBay and ran across the item below...and it looks like the old fee avoidance trick! 100.00 for the item(s) and 600.00 for shipping. It was fairly common a few years ago but seems to have toned down quite a bit...no numismatic pun intended!

IIRC ebay charges a fee on shipping costs as well. This is more like a scam where shipping is not refunded on returns.

The fees are the same regardless of the S/H charges

I guess the two he sold, the buyers didn't look at the S/H charge and thought they were getting a rip.
And not only are S/H not credited on a return, buyers don't get eBay bucks for S/H either.

No advantage for eBay fees - I suspect that they are hoping some people hit the BIN before seeing total costs.
