I'd like to pick the collective brain for the best possible route to take as I have found two 2Lb dusty top coffee cans full of wheat backs and others. 1 can had the lid on it so the dust is minimal but how should I clean the other before I bring them in to go through them? Or do I bother? I've enjoyed these boards for a long time and confess I'm guilty of gleaning know how and experience.... I'm also open to suggestions as to what to look for or how to organize them....Thanks in advance guys n gals

I'd go through them. There's only a few dates you're looking for anyway. There are some incredibly valuable pennies. Garage sale is best I wonder if they've even been looked through. Could be some diamonds in there. You can store them in rectangular tubes. You can get these online or on amazon. Maybe checkout your local coin dealer there's no need to clean them just let them be the way they are. Washing your hands before and after handling coins helps keep that old sandy garage dust junk. If anything just plain water and pat them dry, never rub.
Thank you Az. I'll check around for some info on those dates
Don't clean any of them, if you would post a representative sample of the coins we could give you a better idea.
If they're common (and they are likely to be) they'll be worth about 2-3c to the right buyer.
Thanks mannie g. I'll do that hopefully today
OK, I'll be looking for pics.
