A pop report for PSA/DNA authentic blue flip cards?

I know the pop report, if I recall, includes the pop report for red flip autographed cards but why hasn't PSA ever reported the numbers for blue flip authentic autos? It seems that most of the PSA/DNA autographed cards I see reside in blue flips. There are a lot of rare autos residing in blue flips and I'd think the pop info would be very valuable.

(Sorry if this has been asked before but I couldn't find an old thread.)

I believe the issue is they simply authenticate the auto and not the card.

Hence the reason a red flip Jordan will outsell a blue flip Jordan.

No way to do a database. The flip just says 'trading card'.

The blue flips that say "trading card" are cards that are either customs or some other non-specific, non-licensed ("broder") card. The majority of blue flips are your usual Topps, Fleer, Donruss, OPC, etc.

A database comprising of "trading cards", licensed cards, index cards, etc could be done assuming PSA kept such data .

Like Redheart said most have a true description. That said I don't think they authenticate the card so for issues where there are counterfeits I believe it would be a problem. I remember being concerned about a few fake Ric Flair's getting through but in reality it turned out they were just photocopies signed and were indeed labeled trading card.

Sadly, no way to tell. Some 52 topps still have a red flip pop of 0, but I hold out hope there are blue flips, or ungraded copies out there!

Is the blue flip service a product line they're trying to phase out? Is the goal to have everyone submit (or resubmit) under the red flip service?

I don't think they're trying to phase it out, just limit it to cuts, notecards, cutoms, etc. and make sure there's no confusion with sigs on authentic cards. If it's a sig on a real, unaltered card, it should be in a red flip.

It has caused a lot of headaches w/ cards.

Red flip authentic is the new blue flip.

Red flips cost more correct? If that is true, that's your answer right there.

Group subbing, they're about a buck apart.

Red flips authentic are not the new blue flip. The red flip ensures the card too is authentic. The blue flip, like mentioned above a photocopy of a card or some other counterfeit. They no longer list the brand of the card in blue flips.
Red flip can also be listed as authentic even if the card is miscut or just asked not to be graded when originally submitted.

It's a matter of speaking. Like, "orange is the new black".

The "trading card" label is so undesirable that it is PSA's way of saying: hey, market, go over there.... and it is happening.

  • RedHeart54RedHeart54 Posts: 2,279 ✭✭✭

All right, so PSA's decision to label the cards in blue flips "trading card" is a new thing. And now I am royally confused trying to find the service I want.

So...what service do I or can I submit a card under if I merely want the signature to be authenticated (not graded, just authenticated) AND have the label state what the actual card is and not just say "trading card"? (And in my case it's a real OPC card, not some generic "broder" card or whatever.)

Has it really become this difficult to submit autographed cards or am I just not seeing the service??

Red flip is straight $25 each. That's cheaper than paying the blue flip autograph fee of $100 each for someone like Mantle.

I wish all the cards under $100 would still list the name on the blue flip. I collect 1980's signed cards that would cost more to counterfeit that buy on eBay nowadays.
