Beware: Spam has invaded the PM system. - Sender : BLESSING022 -

Don't know why, but I was selected to receive an obvious bogus PM from a
Blessing022 ( she has a tale of woes, in the hospital ( actually "in hospital" sounds
Brittish ) she has cancer along with other maladies .... Wants me to distribute her
recently deceased husband's fortune of $3,500,000 to aid orphaned children.

She listed her email address - etc - but smells like the Nigerian Prince who wants
to hide his money out of the control of his government.

If I had received this spam on my email address, I wouldn't give it a second's thought,
knowing full well, to just delete and move on.... But what concerns me is that this
person actually has a handle here at PCGS - guess no one vetted her.

I assume no one here will fall for this BS. I notified Don Willis and Dave Hall ( but was
unsure of their email addresses ) .... Maybe they will have other complaints as well, and
not just from me.

This forum has had vetting ? Never heard about it before now. Always thought it was open to all.

Looks like others received the same email / PM....
One suggested I "leave the conversation", which I did.

I always thought all participants here were looked into.
Don't ask me why. I just thought it would have been the
    prudent thing to do.

Not all that long ago, I asked about if there was a time frame that
was used to be able to post items for sale / to buy on the BST.

I was almost assaulted in suggesting that the members are perfectly
fine dealing with this issue by themselves. No need for a waiting period
before a complete stranger can ply his wares on us. Some BS excuse was
given, caveat emptor ya da ya da...

All I saw was a number of us were ripe for the picking. I'm still in favor
of a time limit ( or post accumulation ) be imposed before anyone has
a BST thread. Other sites impose this, and I think it's a good reasonable
    precaution.

Obviously, once again, I'll get my hand handed to me - but - I don't care. I'm
siding with caution. You'll all be able to do as you please, but I hope I don't hear
"I've been taken advantage of" - someone took my money - or - my coin and now
    I'm out $Xxxx ....

We must be on a list somewhere, reserved for awesome people!
Too bad it fell into the wrong hands.

Yeah got me too. Just "left conversation" here.

But the unfortunate thing is now the messages that were forwarded from collectors.com to my private email are now filtered as spam. Because I don't want that stuff coming to my regular email.

Such is the price for keeping a clean inbox.

Insert witicism here. [ xxx ]

You know what really surprises me?? That she hasn't given the money away yet....seems to me I got this same plea 10 years ago....Slow death it seems.

Why is it necessary to start a thread saying one got a spam PM? it's not like it's going to change anything.

They let me post here. That should say all there is about vetting.

This is a hobby where people leave hundreds of thousands of dollars in rare coins in the backseat while they get their "Moons over my Hammy" at Denny's, then come out to find their window smashed, the coins gone, and they're shocked & surprised.

I'm feeling like some might actually need this heads-up. ;)
