Japanese 1700s?

No idea if worth time to go meet guy with these. Not even sure what they are. Are they currency or some sort of bond? Year?

    Japanese bookmark money. They sell for between $15-$30ea.

    They are called Hanhatsu and they were a form of script that circulated up until the Meiji era, ca. 1870. They were municipally and privately issued. The only one I own is from.... Hiroshima :o
