Toned Ike

I was just looking at my NGC coins and came across one Ike that seemed to remind me of SuperCoin's icon. So I'll attach a scan. Now that I see his icon again I realize mine doesn't come close. But it does look like nice rainbows are forming. It is nicer than the other hazy ones. I guess I really have become a tone head image

Nothing wrong with being a tone head!

The 74-S Silver Ikes in particular can be found with a wide variety of toning (acquired while still in their gov't holders), much more so than other dates. From a mossy-green like yours, to brighter blue-green, and even yellowish. Collect 'em all. image

PS -- Just noticed my current icon is a 74-S, that's not from the gov't holder, that's a Peacock hoard Ike.

And it's now owned by a forum member too (tried to change it a while back but PCGS isn't allowing us to upload icons).

    Carl:

Sorry to say that your piece is govt holder toned rather than a PKOK. Of course, the govt holder ones are interesting and can be very attractive. I actually like yours alot. However, if it was a PKOK its value would soar to well over $500 for that grade.

  • Thanks for the info! I guess after looking at a bunch of them you get to recognize where the toning comes from. Most of the few I've seen are just hazy or brilliant. This one is going in the keeper box for now, the others in the for sale box image

Nice Ike you have there Braddick! Perhaps you can trademark it like Keith D. did with his name.
