I know what i think, but what do you think the Browns should do with the #1 pick??

This Team has been so inept at drafting players for so long that this upcoming draft with the #1 pick has me worried, worried that they will blow it on another player who will never live up to the hype. They have this new guy, Sashi Brown, who specializes in "Analytics" that will probably make the choices. Just ridiculous.

Yesterday I heard that a local prospect, Mitch Trebisky from Mentor High School and NC State, has announced he will come out early. Then I hear this morning that Deshaun Watson announced after the Championship game. No doubt those will be two of the Top-Rated players, but would it be wise for the Browns to pick one of them?? I think not.

I feel they should either trade the top pick for more picks this year or in future years and focus their attention on the absolute cream-of-the-crop Offensive/Defensive lineman in this years draft and save the #1 pick money for the free agent market, again focusing on whoever is the best Offensive/Defensive lineman available. Those are the two areas where they need help. My feeling is that the current RB's/WR's/QB's they have will be fine if they get more line help. After the "FOUNDATION" is helped and solid they can build with better skill position players.

What are you thoughts on that approach and who are players that the Team might chase after, both in this Draft and the Free Agent market??

I agree with you on Trebisky. I live in NC and somewhat followed the Heels. With his all of 1 year as a starter he is not ready for the NFL. He's probably another TJ Yates or a little better. The Browns should trade out of the #1 pick. They could get a solid player plus a couple of second round picks and a couple of lower round picks out of the deal. Yes they would take some heat from the local fan base but they need to do what is best for the long term and taking a flyer on a maybe QB is not the answer.

I'm not familiar with the college scene enough to say exactly who they should pick but personally I think they need to stay away from skill position players and draft the best lineman or DB they can get, like I said in another thread.

  • Dump that pick if anyone will take it. Stock up and get more depth with the picks they acquire. Teams that have shown success for sustained periods of time do this, and it's a proven method

Odds are four Alabama players will go in the
Top Ten. They would be lucky to snatch Cam Robinson, Tim Williams, Jonathon Allen or Ruben Foster. All would be major upgrades for the Browns. Problem is none of them is quite worth the #1 pick. Trading out of that pick would be the move. If you can't trade the pick I think only Garrett makes sense OR a QB. Maybe Mitch Trubisky ( that's the correct spelling )

I certainly don't have a clue about how to use the draft pick. Problem is neither do the Browns. They need front office personnel who understand what they need and how to acquire them. Until they get good quality people to make these decisions they will continue to flounder.

I am available and would come cheap, $100k w/expenses and a bonus rated to performance of the players I select in this years draft.

Take Myles Garrett or trade out of the 1st pick. Tank next season, and then draft Baker Mayfield in next years draft.

I did not see all of his games but Myles Garrett did not look that special in the bowl game against K-State -- 1 assisted tackle and no sacks. I think he may have been playing hurt though and he is a freakish talent.

Now if he turns out to be as good as Von Miller (another Aggie), then do it.

Trading down for more picks does not work if you can't draft. They have tried this technique in the past and could have had Julio Jones or AJ Green and drafted garbage instead.

I agree, that's why I'm not trying to discuss what the Team needs to do to rectify the Draft Department. I am more interested in what the picks everyone thinks should be made.

per Brick's post, maybe they need to draft some Draft Personnel.

They need help on both sides of the ball. It's kinda early in the process yet, but if there is a slam dunk player on defense or the O-line, I would pick them. QB looks like a gamble this year, at least at #1.
