1955 Bowman - What's the deal with the different shades of 'wood paneling'?

The 1955 Bowman set (the infamous 'color tv' set) has 2 different shades of wood grain paneling on the front. There is a dark shade and more of an oak shade. Were these separated by series? Are there cards of players in both light and dark? Were most of the cards issued in light or dark?

Cards are either light or dark and not both. The first 64 cards are light and the rest are dark. I am trying to get the HOFs from this set and the light bordered cards (like Kaline and Campy) are easier to find in high grade because the chipping is not as prevelant.

Thanks, Brad. I'm sorta-kinda toying with the idea of building this set. I think it would look weird with light and dark interspersed throughout the set but if all the light one are in the beginning, I guess it's not horrible.

Should all be at the beginning. Good luck if you choose to go for the set.
