Just curious how collectors define what they are looking for with these- Seems by State or by County are the most obvious possibly followed by serial numbers or the bank. Do some collectors seek just type II notes?
Are most collectors one a done for a bank or town or do they seek all possible denominations including type II notes?

Some collect a single state, and try to cover all towns within the state. Others collect a city and try to collect every note issued from the city. Another group of collectors specialize in state capitols. Then there are collectors of the "forbidden titles" which are "United States National Bank of ...." While there are also serial number collectors, I haven't seen posts from anyone who just collects Type II notes. The real challenge for serial collectors is notes like a radar on a bank that also has a radar charter number, or a serial 1929, which matches the year.
Have always collected top grade hard to get states!!!!
I like cities and states I've lived in. Also, places where family members live or where they grew up. State capitols are cool, and fancy CH#'s like low numbers or solid charter numbers. Interesting and funny bank names, scarce banks will low known examples that you can pick up for an occasional bargain cherry pick.
There are so many fun ways to enjoy collecting nationals!
Here is the only bank in the nation that issued so many notes that they needed to use a "B" suffix for the serial numbers!!!
Where the collecting starts and where it evolves, is a different story with many collectors I'm thinking. I started collecting a bank that my Great Grandfather founded. I got a couple, then wanted each denomination, then series, then different signature combinations on same bank....Then surrounding towns, then southern half of state...next thing you know your researching neighboring states...selling plasma to fund a purchase from the west coast of a bank you've never heard of....gotta go, I gotta check ebay!
